Chew on this.

Today I continue the tradition of food-related posts. Monday, for the first time in a week, I ate at somewhere besides the new Mega-Lee's. I was in a chicken teriyaki mood, Lee's just can't help me with that. I ended up at the International Food Center on Kearny between Pine and Bush. You know, you go downstairs and there's six places to grub on: Thai, Filipino, Chinese, Mexican, Japanese and one other I can't think of now. I pretty much only do the Japanese spot. I used to do the Mexican place every now and then but stopped when, two times in a row, they were out of sour cream The second time they were also out of guacamole! I mean, come on, the two things a Mexican place should always have are sour cream and guacamole.

Anyway, they gave me so much food. They usually do, but this time was insane. What you get for your money is steamed rice with a generous portion of chopped up chicken, covered with a super-tasty teriyaki sauce. Also, a little lettuce and some tempura vegetables. Yum! They gave me so much that I kept about half of the chicken and rice for yesterday. I know, you're thinking 'But that's not enough. Didn't you supplement that with something?' Good question. Yes, I went down to...Lee's and got some potstickers and a piece of fried fish. That was some lunch!

Today, however, I think I'll try the new El Faro that just opened up on Kearny, near the International Food Center. Like I said, I don't do Mexican that often for lunch, and I will explain why that is at some point But anyway, that's the plan for today...

Thank you so much for telling me about the International Food Center. I work closeby but never would have noticed it but for Happy Corn. I went and had the chicken teriyaki. Delicious!
